Setting Up Your EV Charging Account
Before you can charge your EV, you’ll need to set up an EV charging account with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The process is simple and can be done through your DEWA user ID or the UAE Pass. Alternatively, for those who want a quicker solution, you can use the Guest Mode, which doesn’t require any registration.
How to Charge Your EV in Dubai
Charging your EV is easy, whether you're a registered user or using Guest Mode. Here’s a step-by-step guide for both scenarios:
For Registered DEWA EV Account Users
Using the DEWA Smart App:
- Scan the QR code on the EV Green Charger station.
- Log in with your DEWA user ID or UAE Pass.
- Select your EV account and follow the instructions to start charging.
Using a Smart Device Camera:
- Scan the QR code directly using your device’s camera.
- Log in using your DEWA user ID or UAE Pass.
- Select your EV and proceed with the charging process.
Using the EV Green Charger Card:
- Tap the card on the card reader at the charging station.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to begin charging.
For Non-Registered Users (Guest Mode)
Using the DEWA Smart App:
- Scan the QR code on the charger.
- Select "Continue as Guest" and fill in your details.
- Verify your email and select a charging package.
- Make payment based on consumption.
Using a Smart Device Camera:
- Scan the QR code and fill out the guest service form.
- Verify your email, select your charging package, and pay after use.
Charging Fees and Costs
Understanding the costs of EV charging in Dubai is important for planning your trips and managing expenses. Here’s a breakdown of the fees:
Security Deposit:
- Individuals: AED 500
- Businesses: AED 500
- Government: Exempt
Delivery Charges:
- Individuals, Businesses, Government: AED 20 (including VAT)
Consumption Fees:
- AC Charging: AED 0.7/kWh + VAT
- DC Charging: AED 1.2/kWh + VAT
Charging Packages:
- Wallbox/Public 22 kW: AED 8.09 for 30 minutes
- Fast Charger 50 kW DC: AED 31.50 for 30 minutes
- Ultra-Fast Charger 150 kW DC: AED 94.50 for 30 minutes
How Quickly Can You Start Charging?
- Registered Users: Can begin charging within 1 hour of account setup.
- EV Green Charger Card Users: The card is delivered within 3 days of registration.
- Guest Mode Users: Can start charging immediately after registration.
